Smooth Traveling

Just rolled out Symantec's Corporate version 9 and updated the clients across the network. It has been a boon for removing spyware and malware missed by other programs, in addition to the anti-virus standby. Next I will play around with client firewalls, as a way of quarantining problematic workstations.

The installation process was straightfoward. It required removing the older managed version (7.6) from the server, rebooting, installing the newer version and pushing the updated client out to workstations. The only glitch occurred on some Win 2K clients when Outlook XP was launched, causing an error message to pop up reporting problems with the add-in file c:\Program Files\NavNT\vpmsece.dll . Handily the fix can be pushed through a logon script.
